Our Mission is to bring the Arts of Knitting and Crocheting to women who are dealing with substance abuse issues, mental illness, and lives impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault and family trauma. We use knitting and crocheting to achieve our ultimate goal of finding ways to Heal ourselves, find Hope, create s sense of Happiness and Joy, and ultimately raise our Spirits, Skill Sets and Quality of Life.
Our clients at Turning Point Foundation’s New Visions Center in Ventura are some of the sweetest, most generous women we know! They love knitting and crocheting projects to donate, particularly when it comes to babies.
One of Turning Point’s staff members recently had a baby, and our clients made these cozy knits for him.
October, 2016–Ruthie Marks is a crochet designer with many books under her belt. She recently made a generous donation to Knitting in Recovery of yarn and her books. Staff at Turning Point Foundation’s New Visions center, New Visions clients, and Knitting in Recovery founder, Lise Solvang all crocheted the same shawl in different colors using Ruthie’s pattern.
Many thanks, Ruthie for sharing your passion with us! Thanks also to Basha Kooler, whom Ruthie has designed for and who donated the yarn to Ruthie to pass on to us.
We received a wonderful Yarn Donation from Basha Kooler, Kooler Designs and Ruthie Marks Crochet Pattern Book! Ladonna crocheted this beautiful Wrap for Turning Point’s Program Manager Kalie from one of the designs!
Thank You so much, Basha and Ruthie, with people like you life is beautiful!
Surprise Birthday Party for me, from the Turning Point Clients! So much FUN! They made me this fabulous Poncho and Hat, decorated our room and served tea and muffins! I can’t tell you all how much I love them. They make my life so rich!
And here is a fabulous knit beanie with braids by Chamane and modeled by Kathy!
Wonderful clients from Turning Point Foundations New Visions Rehabilitation program all won Ribbons at the Ventura County Fair this year. There were Blue Ribbons for First Prize, Red Ribbons for Second Prize and a slew of Honorable Mention Ribbons!
