New Visions Clients Knit for Babies

Our clients at Turning Point Foundation’s New Visions Center in Ventura are some of the sweetest, most generous women we know!  They love knitting and crocheting projects to donate, particularly when it comes to babies.

One of Turning Point’s staff members recently had a baby, and our clients made these cozy knits for him.

Find this Basket!

Ok, Ojai friends, you know the drill.  Find this basket!  We hid it somewhere around town.  Once you find it, take a picture of yourself knitting the scarf and post it to Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #knittinginrecovery .  Be sure to follow us on Facebook and/or Instagram @knittinginrecovery to be automatically entered into a raffle for a yarn basket of your own.

Hint: We’ll be sure to keep this basket’s whereabouts anonymous.

Once the scarf is finished, it will be donated to a local charity for our less fortunate community members.

Happy hunting!

Yarn Donation from Twist!

July 24, 2017-Knitting in Recovery received an awesome yarn donation from Twist: Yarns of Intrigue in Manhattan Beach.  The donation filled up an entire car!  The biggest of thank yous to Twist!  Our clients do great things with this yarn and getting new goodies in makes them feel very special.

Ruthie Marks Shawl

October, 2016–Ruthie Marks is a crochet designer with many books under her belt.  She recently made a generous donation to Knitting in Recovery of yarn and her books.  Staff at Turning Point Foundation’s New Visions center, New Visions clients, and Knitting in Recovery founder, Lise Solvang all crocheted the same shawl in different colors using Ruthie’s pattern.

Many thanks, Ruthie for sharing your passion with us!  Thanks also to Basha Kooler, whom Ruthie has designed for and who donated the yarn to Ruthie to pass on to us.

Blanket of Love

nyelas-blanket

A wonderful woman knit this beautiful chenille blanket and donated to one of our Fundraisers for Project Understanding. The lucky and very happy recipient was our very own crocheter, who had been eyeing it all evening long! A lot of LOVE in that Blanket!

Project Understanding Knitting for Mother’s Day

Another wonderful Fundraising Event with Project Understanding and First Friday in Ventura, California. We have knitters and crocheters ranging from 8 – 60 years old. They are fabulous, and what a special community we have created with our coming together to knit and crochets. Healing, Smiles, Joy, Laughter all around. And we get to share our beautiful work, raise funds for Project Understanding and ourselves at the same time!
